5 Tips to Craft a Catchy Introduction to Blog Post

1. Start with a quote

That’s one of the perfect ideas to start your introduction. Use quotes that best align with your content’s topic, like the one I used above.

A single quote is equal to one lengthy paragraph as it expresses the message in short and effectively.

Using quotes from well-known authors support your content and increase the readers’ trust in you.

For instance,

If you are writing on the importance of a reading habit, you can use the quote below:

Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his needs, is good for him.

~ Maya Angelou

2. Be conversational

Communicate with your readers rather than just writing. Poke their mind as if you are in a casual conversation with them.

Address your readers like a buddy which helps build a direct bond between both of you.

For instance,

Not only me, many of us wonder how creative Japanese are… but I hear them say Indians are good in Mathematics and Science.

3. Use an anecdote

Anecdotes are brief amusing stories about a true incident or a character, usually making the readers laugh or ponder over a topic.

A personal story can be an excellent idea to hook your readers with your blog introduction.

For instance,

I used this anecdote on my skill assessment page to give readers an insight into its importance:

Shivangi was very passionate about writing. Her profession was medical, but she was fascinated by the world of ‘WORDS’. And therefore, she started writing as a hobby. She wrote poems and her daily thoughts in a diary. One day, she got an opportunity to work with a company as a content writer. Since she was a fresher, she wasn’t paid much for it. But since the work aligned with her passion, she agreed to take it. However, little did she know that her work won’t be accepted by the seniors, no matter how hard work she had put in.

4. Present impressive facts

Striking facts about the topic you write will benefit the readers and boost your trustworthiness.

Use statistics and statements if you can, because readers trust numbers.

For instance,

In 1995, authors, experts and influencers sold $10 million worth of eBooks through Amazon. 18 years later that number has grown to $1.6 billion.

Further, you can also use an expressive image as images speak louder than words.

Use an image that proclaims the purpose of the entire blog post.

Pro Tip: For images, use metaphors that reflect the intent of your blog post.

5. Ask questions

An unanswered question feels incomplete, but also intensifies the curiosity of the readers. So, using questions your audience is searching answers for can be one of the best ideas for blog opening.

Asking a powerful question will force the readers to identify with the problem you are about to solve.

For instance,

What do you think about the amalgamation of two different political parties in Tamil Nadu?

~ The Hindu

A Quick Recap!

Your blog introduction plays an important role in binding the readers to screen and compelling them to read the entire blog post.

Hence, it is far more important to follow the above tips when you write your introduction to blog posts.
